Endocrine Disorders

Overview

What are endocrine disorders?

Endocrine disorder acts as a vital issue in the modern era. Endocrine system plays an important role in human being for maintaining physiological as well as vital events, which makes a smooth relationship between body and mind. Endocrine disorders are diseases related to the endocrine glands (hormone-producing glands) of the body. These disorders can affect multiple parts of the body and have a wide range of symptoms, depending upon the gland being affected. The disorder of such glands makes imbalance in both physically as well as mentally.

Common endocrine disorders

Some endocrine disorders are common. Particularly those of

  • Reproductive system (PCOD, menstrual irregularities)
  • Beta cell of the pancreas(Diabetes type-1 and type-2)
  • Thyroid (hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism)
The appearance of acne varies with skin color. It may result in psychological and social problems.

Why homeopathy?

PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome)

The presence of two of the following criteria was defined as a requirement for diagnosis of P.C.O.S.: oligomenorrhea (decreased menstrual flow), amenorrhoea, increased levels of circulating androgens (male hormones), clinical manifestation of increased male hormones and ultrasound defined polycystic appearance of the ovaries.

In practice, we find that the one of the most common reasons for which P.C.O.S. patients seek treatment is acne and hirsutism. In younger patients, especially, this is a source of stress and affects confidence. Homeopathy can reduce the circulating hormones, helping clear up eruptions.

The abnormal density and rate of growth of hair on the face and other parts of the body is also effectively controlled with homeopathic treatment.

Irregularity of the menstrual period is another common presentation of P.C.O.S. We see thousands of girls and women complaining of this every month. Delayed periods may be accompanied by severe pain and heavy bleeding which can be very debilitating.

On the other hand, patients also report extremely limited menstrual flow leading to discomfort.Homeopathic treatment can provide quick relief for menstrual cramps. The treatment also helps in safely reducing heavy bleeding in a very short span of time. In addition to medication for quick relief, patients are given regular homeopathic medicines to help regularise their menstrual cycle.

Women who are planning to start a family may be unable to get pregnant due to P.C.O.S. It is, in fact, the most common cause of ovulatory infertility. The imbalance in hormones results in the absence of ovulation or infrequent ovulation. Again, this can be extremely distressing for the patient. Assisted fertilisation procedures come with their own risks. Patients are often unwilling to undergo repeated attempts of these procedures. Homeopathic treatment can increase the chances of fertility. We see many happy couples who have conceived with homeopathic treatment. Some have done so, after having attempted different kinds of fertility treatment in vain.

Homeopathic treatment along with improved lifestyle and diet can help all aspects of this extremely common condition.

Diabetes type-1 and type-2

Diabetes is a lifelong condition in which the blood glucose also known as blood sugar becomes too high. This condition can affect anyone and is not age bound.

The cases of diabetes have increased drastically in the recent past and as per the World Health Organisation (WHO), the numbers are expected to rise further.

For a person suffering from diabetes, simply taking medicines do not help to control the blood sugar level. They are required to bring some positive changes in their lifestyle for better results.

Homeopathy is quite beneficial in treating diabetes.

The main objective of homeopathy, while treating a diabetic person is to treat the overall health of a person. This is because diabetes is not only restricted to the bloodstream but it also affects different parts of the body and organs as well.

To treat diabetes in homeopathy, constitutional medicines are provided after analysing the symptoms of the entire body. "Constitutional medicines are given keeping in mind the overall health of a person. Once the overall health becomes better the insulin level remains in control.”

It is quite effective on the side effects of diabetes like neuropathy, erectile dysfunction.

Hypothyroidism and hyperthyroidism

The overall prevalence of hypothyroidism is estimated to be about 10.9% in the adult population of India.

Constitutional medicine is given to the patient suffering which helps to improve the function of thyroid gland naturally. Homeopathy remedy helps the body to stimulate the thyroid gland to overcome deficiency or excess on its own. Eventually, it also reduces dependency on artificial hormonal supply.

What is the endocrine system and what is its function?

The endocrine system consists of several glands, whose key function is to produce and release different hormones in the bloodstream. Hormones are known as chemical messengers. The word hormone is derived from the Greek “hormao” meaning “I excite or arouse”. They aon different parts of the body, exhibiting numerous functions. These include,

  • Growth and Development
  • Metabolism
  • Sexual Function
  • Reproduction
  • Mood

What causes endocrine disorders?

Endocrine disorders generally occur either due to:

  • Too much or too little hormone released from the glands, known as hormonal imbalance, caused by
  • A problem with the endocrine feedback system that controls the amount of hormone secreted in the bloodstream
  • The disease of the endocrine gland
  • Genetic disorder
  • Infection of the gland
  • Injury to the gland
  • Development of nodules or tumours in the glands

Can endocrine disorders affect children?

Yes, endocrine disorders can affect children. According to the World Health Organization, the most common endocrine disorders in children include

  • Thyroidal dysfunctions: Thyroid hormones play an important role in normal brain development during the first 2 years of life, beginning in the womb.
  • Diabetes: Diabetes is characterized by high blood glucose levels resulting from defects in insulin production, insulin action, or both. Food habits and sedentary lifestyle has resulted in a rapid rise in diabetes among children.
  • Obesity: According to the WHO 2010 reports approximately 43 million children <5 years of age were overweight.
  • Precocious puberty: It is defined as the onset of puberty before the age of 8 years in girls and before the age of 9 years in boys. It is characterized by early puberty, growth and bone maturation leading to faulty skeletal growth and stunted growth.

Treatment of endocrine disorders in allopathy medicine

The treatment of endocrine disorders usually involves,

  • Hormone replacement therapy in case of low or no hormone production by the gland.
  • Medications that boost or lower hormone production.
  • Surgery or radiation therapy to control tumour growth.

How homeopathy helps in endocrine disorders?

The human being is the unit of Mind, body, spirit and these are correlated with each other, so if one member is imbalance then whole is affected to a greater or less degree. The aim of homeopathy treatment is to restore the function of gland so that the gland itself can produce hormone for the need of the body.

No need to take life long hormone therapy once gland start function normally with help of homeopathy medicine.

No any side effect of medicine on other system of the body.

Homoeopathy play an important role in endocrine disorder for curative as well as preventive purpose with the help of highly dynamised Homoeopathic medicine.
